Seychelles wins prestigious tourism award at World Routes 2012 in Abu Dhabi

Seychelles wins prestigious tourism award at World Routes 2012 in Abu Dhabi (Forimmediaterelease.net) An unexpected benefit of Seychelles’ attendance at the World Routes forum in Abu Dhabi held between September 29 and October 2, 2012 was winning the Best Destination Marketing Campaign by a tourism board. The Seychelles delegation led by the Minister for Tourism&Culture, Alain St Ange, and comprising CEO of the Tourism Board, Elsia Grandcourt; Senior Marketing Executive Amy Michel; and Tourism Consultant Glynn Burridge were on hand to collect the coveted tourism prize in recognition of the Seychelles Tourism Board’s excellent track record in recognizing the importance of the golden triangular approach of airlines, aviation authorities, and tourism boards in advancing tourism. Seychelles was also recognized for its innovative marketing and public relations approach.

Seychelles is continually referenced for having promoted and hosted the Routes Africa aviation forum in Seychelles between July 8-10, 2102, which broke all existing records for a Routes Africa event.

Routes, which is considered to be the premier forum for aviation route development in the world, grants awards to airlines, aviation authorities, and tourism authorities in recognition of their roles in advancing the cause of aviation connectivity in the world. Seychelles was awarded the prize in preference over 5 other shortlisted tourism boards including Greece, Aruba, and the Philippines at the world Routes networking gala dinner held at the Yas Marina Circuit before an audience of some 2,700 invited guests.

In recognition of the award, the master of ceremonies, Ali Alsaloum, spoke of the many representatives of the community of nations speaking a common “language of respect” in supporting the interests of international aviation and in collaborating effectively towards that end.

“This is a vindication of the hard work, dedication, and team spirit, which routinely goes into the way we conduct our international marketing campaigns,” enthused Minister St.Ange, who was accompanied by Chairman of the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority, Capt. David Savy, “and we are proud to accept this award on behalf of the entire country.”
