Madrid, April 30, 2007
Iberia’s electronic tickets can now be issued for travel that includes stages flown by El Al or Air Europa, bringing to 34 the number of airlines offering combined travel with the Spanish airline on Iberia’s e-ticket. This number includes Iberia’s partner airlines in the oneworld alliance.

Iberia began issuing paperless e-tickets in 1997, and a decade later they have become standard, and can be used for almost all the company’s destinations.

Iberia is the leading European airline in the transition from paper to electronic tickets, since the latter now account for 97% of all Iberia tickets sold. As of this June only e-tickets will be available for Iberia flights within Spain. Thus Iberia is well ahead of the IATA deadline for the changeover.

Travellers can purchase air tickets on line, where they can also be sure of getting the best prices.

Note: Iberia today is not only Spain’s leading airline, but it is also market leader on routes between Europe and Latin America. In 2006 the airline group posted operating revenues of 5.39 billion euros, an EBITDAR of more than 790 million and net earnings of 116 million. Along with its franchise partner Iberia Regional, Iberia operates more than 1,000 flights every day to a hundred destinations, and carried 33 million passengers in 2006. Iberia is a founding member of the oneworld alliance, whose members together make more than 8,000 flights each day to 605 destinations in 134 countries.
