Seychelles launches the 4th edition of its National Culinary Contest ( Seychelles has launched its 4th edition of the island’s National Culinary Contest 2012. For three consecutive years, the Seychelles Tourism Academy, in collaboration with ISPC Seychelles, the hotel suppliers and wholesalers, have attracted young and the most-talented future Seychellois chefs. The contest also brings to Seychelles highly-reputed chefs of international recognition who act as judges for the event.

ISPC Seychelles, the National Culinary Contest’s biggest sponsors and organizers of the event, were present at the official launch of the 4th edition of 2012 Culinary Contest. The contest qualifications are set for the 8th, 9th, and 11th October at La Plage restaurant at Beau Vallon Beach on Mahe. The finals are scheduled on the 13th, 14th, and 15th of November at the Seychelles Tourism Academy at La Misere.

The Chief Executive of ISPC Seychelles said that the contest, aimed at emphasizing the quality of chefs in Seychelles, has grown into popularity to become the Seychelles’ successful Culinary Contest.

The National Culinary Contest has also known its success from the Gala Dinner hosted at the end of the competition where the Grand winners of the contest are invited to present their winning dishes during the night of the Gala Dinner. For the 2011 National Culinary Contest, the Gala Dinner was hosted at La Plage Restaurant in Beau Vallon. An amount of 91,094 rupees was collected during the Gala Dinner and presented to Seychelles Tourism Academy for the procurement of training equipment and for the continued smooth running of the institution.

For the 2012 4th edition of the National Culinary Contest, ISPC Seychelles has announced the arrival of two dedicated Michelin Star chefs from Brussels who will give international status to the Culinary Contest and ensure that the contest reputation remains that it is a contest ranked as one of the best in the region.

Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, was personally present at the launching ceremony of the Culinary Contest 2012 at the Tourism Academy at La Misere. “This culinary contest does a lot to bring to the forefront our best promising chefs. This contest opens the doors for our young chefs to be seen and to be recognized. It is through such public contests that their ability will be displayed for all to see, and that will in return position them in the sought-after positions as being the best our islands have,” Minister St.Ange said.

The Seychelles Tourism Academy remains part of the Tourism Board under the portfolio of the Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture.
