Seychelles to mark World Tourism Day with its annual Seychelles Ball

Seychelles to mark World Tourism Day with its annual Seychelles Ball ( Since the last couple of years, the Seychelles Tourism Board has been marking World Tourism Day with an annual Seychelles Ball that has fast become the evening where everyone who counts in the island is present. This evening takes the island’s tourism industry, government officials, the business community, and that even gets together business representatives of serious businesses dealing or operating in Seychelles to come together for a formal night out.

Dressed in long-sleeved shirts and a tie is not a daily occurrence in Seychelles where a more casual approach is the norm, but for a night every year everyone of importance comes together to dance the night away and to use the opportunity to mingle with partners and government leaders.

This year the Celebrate Seychelles Events Department at the Tourism Board has announced that it is the Constance Ephelia Resort who will be hosting the event that greets everyone with a formal Hollywood-styled Red Carpet entrance. The 2012 Seychelles Ball is sponsored by Laurent Perrier Champagne, celebrating this year their 200th anniversary.

The evening will enhance the image of tourism, the industry that remains the pillar of the Seychelles economy. The Seychelles Tourism Board has been thanked by everyone for the last couple of years for being the organizer of events with a difference. The Seychelles Ball has now been firmly established in the Events Calendar of the islands as part of the annual celebrations of World Tourism Day.

Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, said that if Seychelles did not celebrate World Tourism Day, we would be seen as hypocrites, because the islands depend on tourism. “We are committed to not only defending the industry that remains the pillar of our economy, but we also continue to work tirelessly to consolidate it. Everyone involved directly or indirectly in the industry needs to show their public support for tourism on this 2012 World Tourism Day. Tourism is more than just hotels and restaurants. It encompasses everything that makes our economy, and on the night of the 2012 Seychelles Ball, all those who believe in our country’s tourism industry will be present,” Minister St.Ange said.
