Emirates Skycargo Bolsters UAE Operatons with VP Appointment ( DUBAI, U.A.E., 9th October 2007 – Emirates SkyCargo has signaled a strong focus on customer services and commercial operations in the UAE and its Dubai hub by creating a new role – Vice President Cargo UAE.

With more than 20 years of experience in the industry, cargo veteran and UAE national Jassim Saif has been promoted to the new office from the position of Emirates’ Manager Cargo UAE with its primary focus on sales and customer service throughout the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council). The new position has an expanded portfolio that emphasizes enhanced customer relationship management that will benefit Emirates SkyCargo’s agents, freight forwarders, corporate and high net-worth customers.

Peter Sedgley, Emirates’ Senior Vice President Cargo Commercial Operations said: “We have trained the spotlight on our customer relationship management practices at the heart of our commercial operations at the hub. Emirates SkyCargo’s investments in high-quality staff, the very latest information technology, the most efficient aircraft for its expanding route network and the finest ground handling facilities and equipment, has made it a significant force in the global air cargo industry.

Emirates SkyCargo’s growth has kept pace with the airline’s phenomenal footprint. In the fiscal year 2006-07, the cargo division recorded strong growth across its network to carry 1.16 million tonnes of cargo. The division’s revenue of Dhs 5.4 billion ($1.5 billion) was Dhs 900 million ($300 million) or 21.7 per cent higher than the year before, and contributed 20 per cent to the airline’s transport revenue.
