Seychelles Tourism Board team responsible for Routes Africa joins Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority for tour of airport facilities prior to Routes conference from July 8 to 10

Seychelles Tourism Board team responsible for Routes Africa joins Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority for tour of airport facilities prior to Routes conference from July 8 to 10 (Forimmediaterelease.net) The Seychelles Tourism Board team responsible for hosting the 2012 Routes Africa conference between July 8 and 10, joined the co-hosting team from Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority at the airport on Tuesday, June 26 for a tour of the facilities.

Routes is the premier event concerned with aviation routing in the world, and the Seychelles Tourism Board and Civil Aviation Authority will be co-hosting the Routes Africa event at Kempinski Hotel between July 8 and 10, 2012. The event is hosted by the Seychelles Tourism Board in partnership with the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority, and supported by the Airlines Association of Southern Africa (AASA), AFRAA (African Airlines Association), and ACI Africa. This year’s event will see more route development professionals in attendance than any previous Routes Africa event.

The 24 airlines represented at the event include Etihad, Qatar Airways, Mango, Kenya Airways, Comair, Iberia and, more recently, Turkish Airlines Cargo, Air Mauritius, and Vueling (who are looking to meet with West African Airports who wish to develop routes into Spain). To date, 37 airports have registered among a record Routes Africa total of 286 registrations.

Routes Africa is now in its seventh year, and the 2012 event will be the largest event to date. Last week, Untied Airlines also confirmed their attendance which marks, not only their first Routes Africa event but also the first time that a North American carrier will attend the networking forum for the African region.

Routes organizes world-renowned airline and airport networking events through its regional and global Route Development Forums. Each year, there is one global event and one regional event in Asia, Africa, Europe, the Americas, and CIS, respectively. For more information on routes, go to www.routesonline.com .

Routes was founded in 1995 as part of the Manchester UK‐based ASM Ltd. ( www.asm‐global.com ), a consultancy specializing in the field of route development for airports.

“The hosting of this important aviation forum is indicative of Seychelles’ capabilities and the strength of its infrastructure,” remarked the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, Elsia Grandcourt, “and we are delighted to be co-hosting with our partners the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority in support of the Golden Triangle of Airlines, Civil Aviation, and the tourism authority which lies at the foundation of modern tourism.”

During the course of their site visit, the Routes Africa organizing teams looked at a wide range of airport facilities prior to the arrival of Routes delegates and also at “Skippy,” the renovated shell of a Twin Otter Aircraft, which has been especially decked out in Routes livery for positioning at the Routes Gala Dinner at Cap Lazare on the final night of the conference.
