Seychelles-Mauritius working as one for the region

Seychelles-Mauritius working as one for the region (Forimmediaterelease.net) The Prime Minister of Mauritius, His Excellency Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam, has today concluded his State Visit to Seychelles following a departure ceremony, led by Seychelles President James Michel, held at the Seychelles International Airport earlier this afternoon.

“Through this visit, Seychelles and Mauritius have added a renewed momentum to our bilateral relations,” said the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Jean-Paul Adam, “We have extensively reviewed our relationship and both President Michel and Prime Minister Ramgoolam have expressed their deep desire to broaden this relationship and break new ground not only for the benefit of our people but also for our shared region. It is clear that the prosperity and stability of the region as a whole is one of our primary common goals.”

Minister Adam explained that one of the ways that both governments will pursue this is through the appointment of non-resident Ambassadors for the region.

Prime Minister Ramgoolam, was accompanied by a high-level Mauritian delegation, which included the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade of the Republic of Mauritius, Dr. Arvin Boolell.

“It has been a very successful visit, which has deepened our bilateral relationship. We stand shoulder to shoulder on issues of regional and bilateral interests, and it will lead to enhanced collaborations and will uplift the quality of life for our two people.

“The special bond between our two heads of State reaffirms the will of our two people to move the process forward. We are grateful to the people and government of Seychelles, and we look forward to seeing the Seychellois people in greater numbers in Mauritius, and we, too, shall, of course, reciprocate all the way. We shall stand together as one people, and as two nations with a commonality of interests,” Said Minister Boolell.

During his visit, the Prime Minister attended the 19th National Day celebrations as the Guest of Honor, as well as addressed a special Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly.

Prime Minister Ramgoolam was in Seychelles at the invitation of President Michel who undertook his second state visit to Mauritius in March 2012 as Guest Honor on the occasion of the 44th independence anniversary of Mauritius.
