Seychellois and British join together for Queen’s Jubilee celebrations

Seychellois and British join together for Queen’s Jubilee celebrations ( The Diamond Jubilee Dinner at the Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay Hotel&Casino, off the Golden Mile of Seychelles, saw many British citizens in residence in Seychelles join the Seychellois population for the special Diamond Jubilee Dinner organized to ensure that Seychelles was part of the Community of Nations joining in together to mark the historic event of 2012.

Nirmal Jivan Shah, son of the deceased Historian Khanti Jivan Shah, brought out a souvenir coronation photograph of Her Majesty the Queen, which was in the large collection of documents and artifacts from the walls of Khanti’s own personal archives. Many diners from adjacent tables at the Jubilee Dinner wanted to pose for the souvenir picture of that historical picture of Her Majesty on her Coronation Day.

The Diamond Jubilee Dinner preceded the Beacon Lightning Ceremony on the lovely beach of Beau Vallon by Mr. Mather Forbes, the British High Commissioner and Seychelles Ministers Alain St.Ange and Peter Sinon.

To also mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, the Seychelles Ministry of Tourism and Culture and the British High Commission also organized a photo exhibition in the City Center of Victoria on the grounds of Queen Victoria’s statue. The exhibition showcased the official visit by Her Majesty the Queen and Prince Philip in 1972, when she formally opened the Seychelles International Airport that launched in earnest the successful island’s tourism industry that has become today the pillar of the Seychelles economy.
