Singapore Expo Leads The Way To Global Success Through MICE

( 1. The Preferred Venue for Meetings, Incentives, Conventions

Singapore is ranked the Top Convention City in Asia for 23 consecutive years by the Union of International Associations (2006) and the World’s Top location for international association meetings by the International Congress and Convention Association (2006).
Singapore continually attracts high-profile international business events. This includes the 11th World HR Congress & Business 2006, the Asia Pacific Life Insurance Congress, Herbalife 2007 (over 18,000 delegates) all hosted at Singapore Expo.
Singapore is already equipped with world-class convention and exhibition facilities and accommodation. Business visitors, meeting planners and event organisers have the best choice of holding their meetings at SINGAPORE EXPO – the largest convention centre in the nation.
Singapore Expo is modelled after top European and American convention and exhibition centres, with best of class features, providing familiarity yet improvement of the centres from the West. Experienced meeting planners and associations find such features useful. The venue is managed by SINGEX - the longest established MICE venue management company with 29 years of history in Singapore.
Singapore Expo’s strength in flexible meetings of all sizes, whether above or below 1,000 delegates. To meet the increasing demands for bigger meetings, two halls (halls 8 and MAX Pavilion) are equipped with auditorium seating for 6,000 and 7,000 persons respectively. These auditoriums offer state- of- the- art AV and staging systems. They have ready usable facilities for large scale corporate meetings, with adjacent halls as breakouts, registration, dressing rooms or catering areas. Such ergonomic layouts proved to be highly popular with many meeting planners and organisers. There are also multiple meeting rooms to accommodate 20 to 1,000 persons in a single setting.

The multi-purpose halls can accommodate up to 20,000 delegates at one sitting. Multiple sessions can all be held at the same time, in one location, under one roof. Two halls can combine into 1 to fit mega meetings of up to 20,000 persons.

2. Why Singapore Expo Works For International Meetings

Despite the recent mushrooming of new convention and exhibition centres in the region, Singapore Expo continues to maintain its lead position as a top MICE venue in Asia.

It has an airport location without the city traffic and pollution, yet at the crossroads of major expressways leading to all parts of Singapore and the city in 15 minutes. .It is also the largest MICE venue in Singapore with over 100,000 sqm /1,800,000 sq ft of indoor convention and exhibition spaces.

The halls are entirely on ground level and the only venue in Singapore to provide totally ground level contiguous and column free convention and exhibition spaces. These offer speed, convenience and a hassle-free experience for users when preparing for conventions and trade events. Logistically, it’s so much easier to manage than multi-level premises.

The architecture provides ease of human and traffic movement as delegates and visitors can move freely in the convention spaces without getting out of the halls, or queuing for escalators and lifts. The flexibility of the halls allows all types of space configurations for meetings and other events.

Due to the purpose-built style of Singapore Expo as a dedicated Meetings and Conventions centre, delegates and visitors are able to focus on the events they are attending. This is a key element for meeting planners as they value the full attention of delegates, who have made a direct visit to the venue for the event and are not there for other activities.

3. Customised Solutions for Meeting Planners, Management and Associations

SINGEX offers customised solutions, logistics support, event planning, advanced IT connectivity, local and regional knowledge and alliances. Our priority is customer satisfaction, and their success.

SINGEX works closely with the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and has jointly developed a program with STB, designed to bring mega meetings to Expo. Through such concerted efforts, meetings of international status held at the venue would benefit from STB schemes and funding support if they meet the criteria. The STB’s “BE in Singapore” scheme for meetings and conventions is a unique package to entertain and impress all delegates who come for your meetings held at Singapore Expo.

SINGEX also collaborates with local association representatives. Events here also have the services of the top three Singapore Food and Beverage caterers, namely Creative Eateries, Kriston Catering and SCS Food Services. They are able to design all types of catering, banquets and F&B services for meetings, conventions and incentive events.

SINGEX participates in global MICE meetings, fairs and shows to help overseas associations plan for their events here, and also to create awareness about the convention capabilities and share our track records with the world. Europe and America are our target markets, as there are many associations, companies and meeting planners creating Asian chapters of their conventions and shows, or rotating conventions.
Many realize that Singapore Expo is the ideal entry point to build and establish networks, create awareness, market their know-how, businesses, products and services to the whole of Asia and beyond. The meeting planners from Europe and America also have that level of professional confidence with SINGEX, as we have built strong alliances with them over the 29 years in this industry and this has given much credibility to meeting planners from all over the world.

4. Successful Meetings at Singapore Expo

In July 2007, we will be hosting the region’s largest Corporate Meeting – the Herbalife Extravaganza 2007 with over 18,000 foreign and local delegates at Singapore Expo.

“Singapore Expo is a great facility for what we are because we are a multi-faceted, multi-meeting and multi-tasking company. We have to tend to a lot of needs of our distributors, a lot of current issues, a lot of product issues, a lot of financial issues and we require a flexible facility with multiple sized rooms and this place has been excellent for that purpose.” - Randy Brogna, Former Vice President, Herbalife International.

Commenting on the support and service levels at Singapore Expo, he added, ”This facility has stepped outside the norm and has taken on an extremely friendly approach towards us, an international company.”

In 2006, Singapore Expo hosted the largest incentive group, Amway China 2006- Business Session and Gala Dinner. Comprising over 10,800 delegates, Amway China had one of their largest incentive meetings held at Singapore Expo. The entire event was held over 6 ‘waves’- each wave consisted of 1,800 delegates from different parts of China. During the entire span of the event, each group had their full day business session at Expo. Each wave ended off with a grand gala dinner held at the same evening.
