Green Globe Certification certifies Club Med Gregolimano in Greece

Green Globe Certification certifies Club Med Gregolimano in Greece ( LOS ANGELES, California - Green Globe Certification today announced certification of Club Med Gregolimano in Greece. The hotel is situated in the northwest on the island Eubea (Evia), around 140 km north of Athens and is in between the sea and the mountains with a 1 km stretch of beach.

Protecting nature has always been part of Club Mediterranee’s corporate strategy. The appreciation of the natural world and its benefits goes back to the very beginnings of Club Med. It has always paid close attention to the way its villages are integrated into the landscape, the use of local architectural styles and materials, and the conservation of native species, as well as energy efficiency and responsible use of water.

Priority sustainability objectives of Club Med Gregolimano include improvement of waste management, eco-responsible purchasing in sensitive product categories, promotion of local purchasing, and contribution to local development and local identity.

Green Globe Certification’s CEO, Mr. Guido Bauer, said: “We are very pleased to certify Club Med Gregolimano for its sustainability management. It is impressive to see how all Club Med Hotels structure the environmental management of their ‘villages’ and educate their staff and guests in environmental practices.”

Club Med Gregolimano has developed an excursion program for guests, with cultural excursions to Athens to the Acropolis, or to the cultural temple of Apollo, Delphi. With this rich local heritage, the hotel has– like all Club Med destinations – drawn up a Responsible Tourism charter to guarantee responsible practice towards the environment, natural and cultural, and ethical participation towards local economic development.

Club Med Gregolimano’s General Manager, Medhi Kamali, said: “It was a wonderful experience to make something positive happen during difficult times in Greece. With the support of Green Globe Certication, we can actively contribute to the protection of our environment .”

The white sandy headland of Gregolimano, on the island of Eubea, juts out defiantly into the blue waters of the Aegean, across from the mountains.

From the hotel to the bungalows in the pine wood, this Club Med Village reveals its secrets through a succession of porches, flowering paths, and charming patios in a joyous labyrinth of dazzling white. In this setting, the pleasures of waterskiing and tennis can be enjoyed at a high level.

In this idyllic resort for sport-loving families, Jean-Philippe Nuel has breathed a new contemporary spirit into the modern architecture. The Deluxe Bungalows in the pine forest with a magnificent sea view have a new look, adorned with wood and sandstone. The traditional Greek blue and white have been enhanced with a dash of vivid tones, to perfect the Resort's new summer ambience.

The Club Med Gregolimano Resort has 381 rooms in a variety of types of accommodation, alongside a magnificent long beach of white sand. Its bungalows are small buildings with one upper floor, dotted along the headland in the shade of the pine forest, close to the water sports activities.
