Australian Indigenous Art Exhibition moves to Seychelles in time for the island’s 2012 carnival ( The Australian High Commission accredited to Seychelles, in cooperation with the Seychelles Ministry of Social Development&Culture, is proud to bring “Message Stick” to the Seychelles.

“Message Stick” showcases a collection of contemporary artworks by some tremendous Indigenous Australian artists. The theme is urban, the style is modern, but the collection nonethelessdemonstrates an ongoing and very special relationship between Indigenous Australians and the land all Australians call home.

The Australian High Commissioner said: “I could not be happier ‘Message Stick’ is coming to the Seychelles for the Carnival. This is the first time Australia will participate in the Carnival. This is the first time we will exhibit such a large collection of Indigenous Australian paintings in the Seychelles.

“That Message Stick is coming to the Seychelles is also testament to the strength of the relations between our two countries. Few countries in the world will host the exhibition. I hope many Seychellois and others here for the Carnival will make the most of what is a unique opportunity.”

The Seychelles Ministry of Social Development&Culture will be providing shuttle buses from Victoria to La Bastille for members of the public wishing to visit the exhibition. The exhibition will be open at La Bastille, Mahe from March 4-8.

The Seychelles Tourism Board has also confirmed that Australian Aborigine Artists are also making their way to Seychelles and will be performing during the 2012 Carnaval International de Victoria in Seychelles.
