Aaron Heslehurst, the BBC news and travel presenter, to be MC at Official Opening Ceremony of the 2012 Carnival in Seychelles ( The Seychelles Tourism Board has confirmed that Aaron Heslehurst of the BBC will be the MC at the Official Opening Ceremony of the 2012 Carnival in Seychelles.

Aaron Heslehurst has been a BBC news presenter since February 2002. He currently presents across all of the BBC television channels, including BBC World News, the 24 hour News Channel, and is part of the presenter team on BBC Breakfast, the acclaimed morning program on BBC One. He covers the latest from leading international and domestic corporate news to global finance, as well as breaking major news stories.

In 2009, Aaron won “Best Commentator of the Year" - voted by the British public.

Today, Aaron continues to extensively cover and report on the sovereign debt problems in the Eurozone, as well as the general difficulties facing the global economy.

Over the past few years, Aaron has reported on the global credit crunch, the billions that have been wiped off banks’ books resulting in the global economic slowdown. He's covered the economic consequences of the global war on terrorism, the impact of record-breaking global oil prices, the collapse of the Japanese banks, the ongoing trade wars between the European Union and the United States, the battles over EU competition rules, the SARS virus, and the downfall of world tourism - including the plight of the international airlines. He has also produced in-depth coverage on the crash of the Argentine economy, and corporate scandals involving the big guns from Enron and Worldcom to Italy's Parmalat. Aaron has also interviewed some of the world's biggest corporate leaders and leaders, from the World Bank, the IMF, the European Union, and the World Trade Organization.

As well as news presenting, Aaron reports for FASTTRACK, BBC World News’ weekly travel news program. His specialty lies in the global aviation industry. Aaron has interviewed the heads of some of the world’s largest and leading airlines, including United, British Airways, American Airlines, Qantas, Etihad, SAS, Air Canada, Thai, Iberia, Air India, Malaysian, Emirates, Air New Zealand, and Gulf Air.

Prior to joining BBC World News, Aaron was a Senior News Anchor with CNBC Nordic, a branch of NBC America, based in Copenhagen, Denmark. He previously worked as the European Bureau Chief for Paramount Pictures and Real TV News in the USA and later in London. While at Paramount, Aaron managed and operated Paramount Pictures’ Real TV European Bureau, which involved producing and directing European stories and events.

A native of Australia, Aaron started his journalistic career as a news reporter for Prime Television/Seven Network in Sydney and Canberra. There he gained vital experience in all areas of news reporting, including his first significant live-on-air and on-set work. He went on to win an Australian National Press Club award for best creative story on tourism.

Alain St.Ange, the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, welcomed the news after he had heard that Aaron Heslehurst has accepted to be the Master of Ceremonies at the Official Opening Ceremony of the 2012 Carnival in Seychelles. “We know that the carnival we stage in Seychelles is unique, because it is the only ‘Carnival of Carnivals.’ We are happy to see that we know personalities are happy to be associated with this unique event,” Alain St.Ange said.
