The Reunion island press says that the Seychelles and La Reunion island’s new agreement makes way for a more spectacular carnival in the Vanilla Islands Group in the Indian Ocean

The Reunion island press says that the Seychelles and La Reunion island’s new agreement makes way for a more spectacular carnival in the Vanilla Islands Group in the Indian Ocean (Forimmediaterelease.net) The La Reunion island press of December 13 has reflected on the new agreement signed between the IRT (La Reunion Tourism) and the STB (Seychelles Tourism Board). Both of the islands’ main daily newspapers, Le Quotidien de La Réunion and Le Journal de L'Ile, have covered the signature of the carnival partnership agreement between the tourism authorities of the Seychelles and La Reunion island.

The agreement, signed in the presence of the La Reunion press by Alain St.Ange, the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, and Jacqueline Farreyrol, the President of the Ile de La Reunion Tourism, in the presence of Mr. Didier Robert, the President of the La Reunion Region, and Minister Joel Morgan of the Seychelles, paves the way for the two islands of the Vanilla Islands Group in the Indian Ocean to become co-organizers of the annual March Carnival that is held in the Seychelles. Mr. Pascal Viroleau, the Head of the IRT of La Reunion, was also on hand to witness the historic signature of this Vanilla Islands agreement.

Seychelles successfully organized the first edition of the Vanilla Islands Indian Ocean Carnival earlier this year. “The aim had always been to unite the region’s islands, known as the Vanilla Islands, and make the region’s carnival the Vanilla Island’s Carnival. La Reunion and the Seychelles have now joined forces to stand as one behind the carnival in the Indian Ocean,” Alain St.Ange said to the La Reunion press.

The story of unity in two islands of the Vanilla Islands group made news on every TV channel in La Reunion as it did on their radio stations and in their magazines and newspapers.

Unity in these islands will go a long way in strengthening the tourism industry of the Indian Ocean region, and La Reunion and the Seychelles are paving the way for a stronger regional cooperation as co-hosts of the region’s most colorful event – the Carnaval International de Victoria – which is held annually on the first weekend of March in Victoria, the capital of the Seychelles.

Emirates has only last week reconfirmed their agreement to remain as Official Partner Airline for the 2012 edition of that Indian Ocean Carnival.
