SRI LANKA TOURISM CELEBRATES WORLD CUP CRICKET VICTORY

(Forimmediaterelease.net) As Sri Lanka’s cricket team qualified for the World Cup Cricket finals, winning the semi-final with New Zealand this morning, Sri Lanka Tourism joined hands with hundreds of thousand Sri Lankans to celebrate this achievement. Cricket is almost a second religion to Sri Lankans, where Sri Lanka cricket and Sri Lanka Tourism work very closely together to promote the image of Sri Lanka.

Minister of Tourism, Milinda Moragoda congratulated the Sri Lanka cricket team on their semi final victory against New Zealand yesterday and said “this is not only a win at cricket, but also a victory for Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka Tourism”.

Travel Industry leaders joined in to send their wishes to Captain Mahela Jayawardana and his team and encouraged them to win the final for Sri Lanka to be played on Saturday next, in Jamaica, West Indies.

Sri Lanka Tourism and the Sri Lanka Embassy in Washington worked together to send cheer squads to support Sri Lanka at the semi finals. Creative visual material was developed to gain exposure for Sri Lanka at the matches.

Sri Lanka Tourism believes that a World Cup Cricket victory will give a shot in the arm for Sri Lanka Tourism and will help to attract large numbers of cricket fans to Sri Lanka for the upcoming one day English Cricket Tour series in October and the test series in November/December this year.
