"Airport City" Growing on 300 Hectares at Frankfurt Airport

( Within the next ten years, Frankfurt Airport (FRA) will be evolving from an international air transportation hub into an Airport City with global connections. This was announced today by Karl-Heinz Dietrich, executive vice president of Fraport's retail and properties strategic business unit.

Frankfurt Airport City covers a total area of 21 square kilometres, the major part of which is reserved for current and future air traffic operations. A remarkable 300 hectares are available for developing the necessary service elements of an Airport City.

"Frankfurt is the transfer airport par excellence for globally active managers. For this reason, we are specializing to develop into an attractive global Airport City with the corresponding offers for office, conference, hotel and entertainment space," explained Dietrich.

Of the 300 hectares, the 84-hectare Mönchhof site offers the biggest development potential. Gateway Gardens provides some 35 hectares. Further development of FRA's CargoCity South and CargoCity North areas will also offer opportunities.
