International guests appreciate the high living comfort in serviced apartments
Similar to Arabic health tourists, travel groups from emerging-market countries are becoming interested in serviced apartments. Bookings from both smaller travel agencies as well as big tour operators are noticed. „Quite a good example is a booking for a Chinese tourist group that we had a while ago“, states Anett Gregorius, serviced apartment agent of the booking platform apartmentservice.de. She arranged temporary apartments for this group of 20 tourists. For one month, the group lived centrally in the German capital and intensively studied German history there. Furthermore, they went on severel day tours to Potsdam, Leipzig and Dresden. Having stayed in a „AAAA“-certified apartment with superior standards, they only payed 49 Euro per unit and thus saved some 30 percent compared to a regular hotel of the same standard.
It is expected that the run from Chinese tourists will steadily grow over the next few years. Until 2020, the German National Tourist Board, DZT, anticipates up to 15.6 million visitors annually from this huge country. Though the private kitchen is one of the main features which distinguishes the serviced apartment concept from a regular hotel room, this is probably of minor interest for tourist groups from Asia. Tour operators usually book the central breakfast buffet for their vacationers. And still profit from the lower booking costs.
