Zimbabwe Tourism Minister announces International Council of Tourism Partners membership

Zimbabwe Tourism Minister announces International Council of Tourism Partners membership ( H.E. Eng. W. Mzembi, the Minister of Tourism of Zimbabwe, announced today that their organization has become a founding member of the global destination alliance, the International Council of Tourism Partners (ICTP). The minister stated at the recent International Institute for Peace Through Tourism (IIPT) conference in Lusaka, Zambia, that his country is very enthusiastic about joining this global alliance of tourism destinations. With the strength of this alliance, countries, regions, and cities from around the globe will work together reach global media, trade, consumers, and share recourses at certain trade events and at many secondary global markets - something that one destination could not promote on its own.

Destinations joining ICTP have a commitment to green growth, which means smart travel, along with clean green ethics and quality at all levels of the value chain. Another key benefit of joining the ICTP destination marketing alliance is the pursuit of quadruple bottom-line sustainable development - climate, economic, social, and environmental balance.

ICTP Chairman Juergen Thomas Steinmetz said: “We’re pleased to welcome Zimbabwe to our alliance as another founding member. The interest in our alliance from smaller to medium-sized countries, from regions and cities around the world, is overwhelming. At this time, we are attracting founding members before the official launch of the alliance during the World Travel Market in London in November.
