SCTA introduces leave no trace principles in sign language

SCTA introduces leave no trace principles in sign language (Forimmediaterelease.net) In collaboration with the Hope Institute for Deaf in the city of Al Madina AlMunawara, the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) organized a workshop for the teachers and students on the principles of the “Leave No Trace" program, aiming at encouraging responsible ecotourism development, which is one of initiatives of SCTA.

The workshop included children from different age groups and was delivered by the teacher Mahir Al Nozha, SCTA team leaders of “Leave No Trace," and translated in sign language by teacher Abdul Wahab Al Babtain.

The workshop was attended by around 100 participants who were trained on the seven principles of the “Leave No Trace" program: pre-planning of eco-tourism trips; checking for proper routing; camping and accommodation sites; proper disposal of wastes; reducing the negative effects of fires; good dealing with wild creatures of all kinds; not compromising or removing components of natural areas and archaeological sites, but rather leaving them unchanged; and respect for the feelings of residents and other visitors.
