Tanzania Zanzibar and Brazil delegations arrive for Seychelles carnival

Tanzania Zanzibar and Brazil delegations arrive for Seychelles carnival ( The Tanzanian-Zanzibar delegation for the 2011 Seychelles “Carnaval
International de Victoria" arrived in the country yesterday, led by HE the Second Vice President, Hon Seif Ali Iddi, as did he Brazilian delegation who are eager to be part of the carnival float procession to be held in Victoria in the Seychelles on Saturday, March 5.

The 23-strong delegation from Tanzania-Zanzibar also comprised HE Abdillah Jihad Hassan, the Minister of Information, Culture, Tourism, and Sports; Mr. Ali Khalil Mirza, the Director General of the Zanzibar Tourism Board; and Mr. Salum Nassor, the Executive Director of the Zanzibar Investment Promotion Authority.

They were met on arrival by Ambassador Maurice Loustau-Lalanne, the PS of Foreign Affairs; Alain St.Ange, the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board; and by Marymonde Matatiken, the Manager of Events Department at the tourism board and also responsible for the carnival organization.

The delegation then paid a courtesy call on President James Michel soon after their arrival, and held an informal lunch meeting with Mr. St.Ange and Maryvonne Pool, the Seychelles Consul in Tanzania.

The delegation will use the opportunity of their visit to Seychelles to hold a working meeting with Mr. St.Ange to discuss cooperation between the Seychelles and Tanzania Zanzibar tourism.

Tanzania-Zanzibar will be featuring a float in the carnival procession on Saturday, under the theme “Spice Island."

The Brazilian delegation was led by four models who arrived with their carnival costumes in their hands. The arrangements for this delegation has been finalized by Alessandro Pindilli, who runs a modeling agency in Milan, Italy, and who is also the Seychelles Tourism Ambassador in Milan.

Alain St.Ange was at the Seychelles International Airport to greet the Brazilians and said that Seychelles will see real diversity in the coming carnival because of the support the tourism board has received from so many countries.

“The overseas delegations mixed in with the many Seychelles floats will bring a carnival procession with a difference,” he said.

The Brazilians arrived accompanied by known Italian journalist, Paolo Bembo, and by Monette Rose, the Seychelles Tourism Board's Manager in Italy.
