Kenya Airways further expands fleet

Kenya Airways further expands fleet ( NAIROBI, Kenya - As part of a continuing program to enlarge and modernize their fleet, Kenya Airways has taken delivery on a brand new Embraer airliner. Their first E190 Advanced Range (AR) aircraft joins an existing fleet of Embraer 170s, bringing the airline’s total E-Jet fleet to six.

According to Rosemary Adogo, Area Manager Southern Africa and IOI: “The new Embraer is critical to the airline’s regional route expansion process, because it serves the medium to long-range African destinations. It offers the comforts that have come to be expected on the E170s, but in addition, it is also fitted with state-of-the-art, in-seat, in-flight entertainment technology.” She further added, “Passengers can look forward to excellent cabin comfort in a true dual-class configuration of 12 business class seats.”

The new Embraer will service the Lusaka, Kigali, Bujumbura, and Maputo routes.


Kenya Airways is the flag carrier of Kenya established in 1977 and headquartered at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Part of the SkyTeam Alliance, the airline operates to over 46 scheduled destinations throughout Africa, Europe, Indian subcontinent, and Asia.


The Kenya Airways fleet is composed of four Boeing 777-200Ers, six Boeing 767-300Ers, five Boeing 737-800s, four Boeing 737-700s, five Boeing 737-300s, and six Embraer E17LRs - 30 aircraft in total.
