Tanzania heading to the 2011 Seychelles Carnaval International de Victoria with 2nd VP of Zanzibar

Tanzania heading to the 2011 Seychelles Carnaval International de Victoria with 2nd VP of Zanzibar ( Tanzania mainland and Zanzibar governments will participate in the forthcoming 2011 Seychelles “Carnaval International de Victoria" being held under the theme “The Melting Pot of Cultures."

The delegation from Tanzania will comprise both Tanzania's mainland and the Island of Zanzibar under the theme “Tanzania Land of Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar Spice Island" and will be headed by the Second Vice President of Zanzibar HE Second Vice President Ambassador Seif A. Iddi. Tanzania is hoping to send a delegation of approximately thirty people or more. This will include high-ranked government officials and cultural groups from both the mainland Tanzania and the unique island of Zanzibar.

In a meeting held at the House of Representatives of Zanzibar between the Honorary Consul General of Seychelles in Tanzania, Ms. Maryvonne Pool and the Second President who is the government leader, expressed his wish for a very close relationship between the two islands and emphasized that Zanzibar should learn from Seychelles about the impact of a well-organized tourism industry. He assured the Honorary Consul that Zanzibar stands to create a good relationship and is looking forward to learning from the Seychelles.

In separate meetings, the Seychelles Honorary Consul has been discussing with the Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism Tanzania Mainland, Dr. F. Komba, and the Director of Tourism, who have expressed that they have also accepted the invitation to participate.

Tanzania is the latest African nation to pledge its support for the 2011 Seychelles “Carnaval International de Victoria," due to be held between March 4-6, 2011.

Tanzania and Seychelles are already enjoying friendly ties. Now, Tanzania is demonstrating its support of the carnival with its participation in three days of festivities, led by high government officials.

Alain St.Ange, the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, has welcomed the confirmation received from Tanzania and Zanzibar. “Africa has a golden opportunity to sell itself to the world in a carnival being held on an island of Africa, and Tanzania will benefit from contingent of press making their way to Seychelles for the 2011 Seychelles 'Carnival International de Victoria,'" Alain St.Ange said. “Africa must work with Africa, and Africa must know Africa, if Africa is to be strong," St.Ange said in a press interview after receiving Tanzania's confirmation.
