A new International Country and Western Radio Show from Seychelles

A new International Country and Western Radio Show from Seychelles ( Seychellois Barry Laine, the Chairman of High Performance Promotions Ltd., said that over the years, the Seychelles Tourism Board has spent millions promoting Seychelles to ensure that this unique group of islands are well known around the globe. The current activities being undertaken by the new team at the Tourism Board will from now on bring more awareness about Seychelles than any time before, and the new International Country and Western Radio Show he is responsible for is intended to compliment the work of the new team at the Seychelles Tourism Board, in particular the good marketing work of Mr. Alain St. Ange, the CEO of Seychelles Tourism.

This International Country&Western Radio Show is a collaboration between Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) and High Performance Promotions Ltd. (HPP) of Barry Laine.

The aim of the show is to promote Seychelles globally through country and western music. Country and western music has by far the largest number of followers and enthusiasts than any other genre of music in the world.

The Host and Presenter of the show is Barry Laine himself, a Seychellois and a well-known country and western singer and guitarist who has recently returned to Seychelles after 45 years working in America, Japan, UK, and many European countries, and last July he staged Seychelles’ First Country&Western Jamboree at the International Conference Centre in Victoria in the Seychelles. The show featured local and overseas artists inclusive of Kay D from UK who delighted the audience with her dynamic singing and guitar playing, and John Davis the man with a mean steel guitar playing attitude. John duet with Jack Yokowo, Seychelles best and only steel guitar, were magnificent, many who attended the show said.

The International Country&Western Radio Show will go out live on the Internet globally and locally on Paradise FM and SBC AM station. The show will link up with other country and western radio stations around the world to exchange news and views. The show will also interview legendary and famous country and western stars. These activities will give Seychelles unprecedented exposure and will promote activities taking place in the Seychelles. The first activity to be promoted is the 2011 Seychelles “Carnaval International de Victoria," which is taking place on May 4-6. This is very important because throughout the year, the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) and others will be staging monthly activities such as an International Sailing Competition, International Fishing Competition, International Line Dancing Competition on July 19&20, and, of course, every July, Seychelles’ Country&Western Jamboree, which this year will be held on July 22-24 in Victoria, the capital of the Seychelles.

Barry Laine said: “We cannot continue to remain insular. The time has come for us to 'shout' to the world to come and see what we have to offer, to come and enjoy our Creole hospitality, and our Creole cuisine, which has some similarity with Cajun cuisine down in Louisiana. We have a beautiful country, we have the brains, we have the products, and the time has come for us to engage in activities and collaborations where we work together and benefit from our assets."
