Fabulously Namibia

( Abenteuer Afrika Offers Seven-Day Luxury Air Charter Safari in One of the
World’s Most Extraordinary Countries

SWAKOPMUND, NAMIBIA (08/07) – Namibia is a country of rugged, beautiful landscapes, filled with contrast and diversity. For those with a week to discover this dramatic destination, Abenteuer Afrika Safari, Namibia’s largest destination management company, is offering Fabulously Namibia, a seven-day luxury air charter safari that takes in the best of Namibia. Rates which include accommodations, meals, charter flights, game viewing, and transfers are $2,860* per person in the low season.

Guests fly into Windhoek and transfer into a private plane for the first leg of their journey, as they fly southwest over the wide open Namibian landscape for two nights at the Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge, in the heart of the Namib Desert. Ten spacious stone and glass suites look out over the stark beauty of the desert which guests can enjoy with Lodge-provided telescopes. Each of the twin-bedded bedrooms are raised with steps leading to a lounge and patio. All are air-conditioned for hot days and have a fireplace for cold nights. The en-suite bathrooms boast an inside and outside shower.

The main lodge houses the dining room, bar, library, an expansive veranda, and upstairs viewing deck. A high-powered computerized telescope is available for galaxy-viewing and the magnificence of the desert skies. During the day, guests will marvel as they discover the wind-sculpted sand dunes, the highest in the world, and the wide variety of animals and plant life on the NamibRand Nature Reserve. They will take guided nature walks, hike with a guide, or ride in open safari vehicles to view the “living desert.”

The next stop is Swakopmund, a quaint desert town with old world charm and relaxed atmosphere, a short transfer away. Accommodations are at The Stiltz, a unique lodge with eight chalets built on stilts with breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and the sand dunes. The interiors of The Stiltz are colorful and stylish with large panoramic windows. A walkway links each bungalow to the main restaurant. Close to the center of town – though seemingly miles away –The Stilz is in an ideal place to enjoy an afternoon of hospitality, history and cuisine of Swakopmund.

Guests drive to Walvis Bay in the morning for a seal and dolphin boat excursion before departing for Okonjima Lodge in Central Namibia. The lodge is the home of the AfriCat Foundation and activities center around leopard game drives, cheetah tracking on foot, and Bushman Trails on foot. The moist woodlands and thorn-tree savannahs in this part of Namibia are totally different from the desert.

Departing Okonjima after breakfast on the fifth day, the charter flight heads for Mushara Lodge just eight km from Etosha National Park, Namibia’s largest game park and one of the largest in Africa. The next two days are spent in spectacular game viewing in Etosha where four of the ‘Big Five” can be seen along with large herds of other game. Mushara Lodge offers ten thatched accommodations with luxury bedrooms, mosquito nets, telephone and air-conditioning.

On the last morning of the tour, a charter flight takes guests back to Windhoek International Airport.
