Seychelles Tourism Board concludes Master Plan meetings with tourism partners on Praslin and La Digue

Seychelles Tourism Board concludes Master Plan meetings with tourism partners on Praslin and La Digue ( The Seychelles Tourism Board last Friday met with members of the tourism trade on Praslin and La Digue as part of consultations for the new Tourism Master Plan.

The Tourism Board is responsible for preparing the Master Plan and the two meetings brought to a close the consultation process with tourism partners all over the country.

The Tourism Board delegation was headed by Chief Executive Officer Alain St.Ange and comprised Ralph Hissen from the Policy Planning Section; Marquise David who is the the person seconded to the Tourism Board responsible to draft the Master Plan; as well as Jennifer Sinon, the Chief Executive of the Seychelles Hospitality and Tourism Association (SHTA). The two meetings on the islands were also attended by Andre Ciseau, Chief Executive Officer of the Seychelles Port Authority and members of his team, because of the importance of sea access to both islands for their continued development.

The tourism industry players of the two islands brought out points they felt were hampering their progress and which they felt could be addressed in the Master Plan.

On La Digue, the access to L'Union Estate was an issue raised by both small hotels owners and the inhabitants involved in the arts and crafts business.
Praslin's meeting was split into two groups because of the large number of representatives from the business community. The points raised were varied and the dialogue turned out to be very interesting and fruitful in terms of the quality of information collected. On Mahe, the working committee had already met with different industry groupings from all direct and indirect tourism-related businesses. The committee is now moving on to meetings with government authorities before undertaking a tourist survey at the airport to get the impressions of our visitors.
