Seychelles private sector joins their tourism board to again brand London taxis

Seychelles private sector joins their tourism board to again brand London taxis ( The Constance Hotel Group, with their two successful Seychelles properties (Ephelia Resort of Mahe and the Lemuria Resort of Praslin), joined the Seychelles Tourism Board and specialist UK tour operator, SeyExclusive, to brand thirty London taxis in time for the World Travel Market (WTM) 2010.

“Greater visibility is our target," said Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Tourism Board CEO and eTurboNews ambassador, at the launch of the new branded taxis in London during the 2010 WTM Tourism Trade Fair. “The ground work has not been done to reposition Seychelles and to relaunch our tourism industry. We now need to embark on ways and means to make us more visible. This is why we are thankful to the Constance Hotel group and to their two Seychelles properties, the Lemuria Resort and Golf of Praslin, and the new Ephelia Resort of Mahe and also to the UK specialist tour operator, SeyExclusive. They have joined with Fiona Lane, our Manager in the UK, to sponsor these 30 London taxis to be branded with a beach scene picture that will make Londoners, in the coming winter months, dream of Seychelles, the islands with a perpetual summer," Alain St.Ange said.

The Seychelles Secretary of State in the President's Office, Mr. Barry Faure, joined the islands' Tourism CEO, Mr. Alain St.Ange, and the Seychelles Tourism Director for the UK, Ms. Fiona Lane, to launch the 2010 branded taxis in London at WTM 2010.

This is the second year running that the Seychelles has taken up the branding of London taxis as a means for the islands to be more visible around London. The UK market has now started to rebound for Seychelles, a former colony of the United Kingdom. When tourism was launched in the islands some 40 years ago, the London Bus is remembered to have been branded with pictures of the Seychelles, as BOAC provided the air link between the Seychelles and the UK. On July 4, 2011, the Seychelles will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of the historic landing of the first BOAC plane in Seychelles. The Seychelles International Airport was officially opened by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth in 1972.
