Photograph Frangipani’s Green Paradise & Win Valuable Prizes
Resort General Manager, Mr Egon Lassmann said: “Everyone these days carries a camera especially on holidays and there are millions of great photographs out there that never see the light of day and we are presenting an opportunity for budding photographers to visit Langkawi’s green paradise and take some photos, share them with others and stand a chance to win some great prizes in the process.”
The theme for the photographic competition is intentionally open-ended to enable photographers to use all their creative abilities to document the Frangipani Resort, its surroundings and indeed, the whole of Langkawi.
Mr Lassmann explains: “Our theme is Frangipani Green Paradise because we think that our absolute beachfront location on arguably Malaysia’s best island resort is a little piece of paradise. We don’t want to restrict the artistic creativity of all those who enter so we have left the topic open ended to see whether photographers out there are up to the challenge.”
Mr Lassmann commented that Langkawi was not only an island with many superb beaches but it is also home to many unique plants and animals and that these could be submitted to the competition (all guests who stay in the 118-room resort along Langkawi’s Pantai from July to the end of November 2007 are eligible to submit photograph prints, slides and digital images on entry forms obtained from the resort).
He continued: “With the recent gazettal of the island as a UNESCO Geopark photographers may want to focus on the island’s unique geology and the plants and animals that make their home upon the foundations of the rocks. We also get some spectacular sunsets along the beachfront at the resort’s front door, so there are many opportunities for photographers to be creative. Being a responsible or ‘green’ resort we have also planted thousands of local plants in the tropical gardens and these attract many birds and animals which could become subjects for award-winning photographs.”
There will be three prizes awarded which include accommodation and meals at the resort. The lucky first prize winner will receive a week’s accommodation in a resort suite inclusive of breakfast for two valued at RM7,600. Second and third place winners will also receive accommodation and meals valued at RM2,800 and RM1,600 respectively.
Mr Lassmann also commented that the additional incentive for photographers is that their photographs may appear on resort collaterals and be used to induce many more visitors to holiday on Langkawi’s island paradise.
As an incentive to budding photographers, the resort is offering special holiday packages for photographers to holiday in the resort and stand the chance to win valuable prizes at the same time.
