Seychelles Creole Festival greets arriving tourists with music

Seychelles Creole Festival greets arriving tourists with music ( Passengers arriving at Seychelles International Airport were treated to a special welcoming ceremony on the occasion of the country's Annual Creole Festival held in October. A live traditional Creole band was entertaining arriving visitors, ensuring that they understood that the Creole Islands of the Seychelles were celebrating their Creole Week. Seychelles is known as being the “Creole Capital of the World," and this special airport welcome was hosted by the Seychelles Tourism Board.

This year, this special event had been organized as part of Seychelles’ 25th anniversary of the Seychelles Creole Festival, which marked at the same time the International Creole Day that is celebrated annually on October 28.

Arriving passengers were greeted at the arrival lounge by representatives of the Tourism Board, as well as by representatives of “Bonjour Seychelles," a local perfume brand who were also offering samples of their locally made perfume. To ensure that the arrival lounge was filled with a Creole ambience, musician John Vital and his group entertained passengers with some of the best music of the islands.

Alain St.Ange, the CEO of Seychelles Tourism and eTurboNews ambassador, said that the Creole Festival is one of the country's main annual events and that this was set to remain so, because Victoria, the capital of the Seychelles, is also the “Capital of the Creole World."

“More will be done to now ensure that the world knows that every year during the month of October, the Creole Islands of the Seychelles brings to life the Creole Culture," Alain St.Ange said.
