Seychelles successfully launched Singapore tourism office ( OFFICE RESPONSIBLE FOR ASIA AND AUSTRALASIA

The Seychelles islands, supported by Four Seasons Hotel, successfully launched the opening of their Singapore-based office this week, responsible for Asia and Australasia inclusive of India.

When welcoming some 150 tourism trade representatives and Singapore-based press, Myrna Michel, the Seychelles tourism director for Asia and Australasia said that she was committed to growing the market and that she was counting on the support of the local Singapore travel trade. Mrs. Michel introduced the Seychelles trade: Mr. Derek Savy, GM of Elite Club; Mr. Eddie D’Offay, GM Mason’s Travel; Ms. Alice Tirant, GM Creole Travel Services; Mr. Philip Guiton, regional GM for Epheilia Resort; Mr. Fulgere Morel, resident manager Castello Beach Hotel; and Mr. Martijn Brouwer, GM North Island.

Antoine Chahwan, the regional vice president and GM of Four Seasons Hotel, who had partnered with the Seychelles Tourism Board to organize the Seychelles Singapore evening to mark the launch of the Creole islands' presence in Singapore, said that Four Seasons Hotel was a committed partner for Seychelles and that they were proud to now have one of their top resorts in Seychelles.

Mr. Chahwan followed Lizah Bywater, the senior director of marketing of Four Seasons Hotel for Seychelles, who had taken time to introduce their sales and marketing team of their hotel group.

Alain St.Ange, CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board and eTurboNews ambassador, took time in his address to spell out the natural attributes of the Seychelles islands which he said was free of diseases, safe as a destination, and ideally located away from the cyclonic belt and epic centers of tsunamis.

“Seychelles prides itself as being the land of perpetual summer, with clean white sandy beaches and with turquoise blue seas. An unspoilt destination promoting a personalized style of tourism called the Seychelles brand – a brand that is centered around people and a brand that singles Seychelles out of the ordinary, because Seychelles is not and will not be after commercialization of its tourism industry,” Mr. St.Ange said.

The Seychelles tourism CEO said that their islands had benefitted from the Dubai hub, well served by Emirates Airlines, and that they were now after working with Singapore to become their hub for Asia and Australasia. “We need an Asian airline such as Singapore Airline to be our partner,” said Mr. St.Ange.

The Seychelles evening saw an island Creole buffet presented by two Seychellois chefs from Four Seasons Resort Seychelles and music with dancing by the island band ZEZ where the director from Tru Travel, Mrs. Ong Bee Leng Nikki, won a prize for two to travel to Seychelles and stay at the Four Seasons Resort Seychelles.
