Japanese member of parliament and visiting Chinese delegation call at Seychelles Tourism Board ( The Honorable Yasutoshi Nishimura, a Japanese member of parliament who is undertaking a tour of the Seychelles region, called at the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) this week and had meetings with chief executive officer, Alain St.Ange, to discuss the possibility of exploring trade and tourism openings between Japan and the Seychelles.

The Honourable Nishimura is the deputy chairman and chief secretary of Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party Policy Research Council and he is also a member of the House of Representatives of Japan.

During his visit, he also met with Seychelles President James Michel who holds the portfolio for tourism.

At STB, the Honorable Nishimura and his delegation discussed, among other matters, the possible participation of his country in the Seychelles International Carnival in 2011, as well as investment possibilities. Mr. Nishimura, who was accompanied by an Embassy representative, was fully briefed on the three-day celebrations being planned in March and on the “Seychelles Brand," the new vision of tourism development in the Seychelles.

The Japanese delegation's visit to the STB offices was followed by a visiting Chinese delegation as part of follow-up discussions about investment possibilities in hotels and restaurants and the need for air links between Seychelles and China.

The delegation was headed by Mr. Jiang Mingjun, co-chairman of the International Eco-Safety Assembly and comprised of Mr. Cai Guo An, CEO of the SPAN Company and his VPs.

The delegation discussed different investment options and air links using Seychelles as the secure and safe gateway into Africa. Mr. St.Ange also took the opportunity to again table the Seychelles 2011 Carnival and the desire to see China well represented in the event.
