Ethiopian Airlines offers more connections to customers while strengthening their position in the global market

(Forimmediaterelease.net) Washington, DC July 18, 2007 – Ethiopian Airlines and Gulf Air have partnered together in a code sharing agreement opening routes and services to each other's respective networks in order to benefit their customers with seamless connections starting July 1st, 2007.
Mr. Busera Awel, Vice President Commercial of Ethiopian Airlines stated, “The code sharing agreement with Gulf Air comes at a period when Ethiopian Airlines is relentlessly pursuing a fast growth strategy in all areas of its activities. The airline already has other cooperation agreements with several African and European carriers, but this is our first venture with a gulf region carrier. The partnership with Gulf Air will allow our customers to have access to additional destinations in the Middle East and Asia from Bahrain, while providing Ethiopian Airlines with the opportunity to strengthen our presence in that region."
The first phase of the partnership will cover the route between Addis Ababa and Bahrain which will open Gulf Air's vast Middle East and Asian network for seamless connections to Ethiopian's 29 online stations in Africa.
Referring to the agreement, Mr. Hashim Mahmood, Executive Vice President Network Gulf Air said, “We have entered a new era of operational efficiency with the implementation of our newly refined network and the code sharing agreement with Ethiopian Airlines. This is a key strategy as we are constantly looking at ways to strengthen our reach and build alliances with other airlines."
Ethiopian Airlines' strong presence in Africa coupled with Gulf Air's unrivalled network in the Middle East and Asia will allow both carriers to cover wider market outreach.
