India remains a promising country for Seychelles
“We had set out a plan of action that took us to Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, and Delhi in a bid to meet the business community, the tourism trade, the press, and potential airlines, and we ended our flying visit in India on a very positive note,” said Alain St. Ange.
The Seychelles delegation was thankful for the assistance received from the island’s high commissioner who made time to accompany the delegation right through their Indian tour and who had liaised with the Seychelles honorary consuls to prepare the working sessions in the different cities.
“The support from each and every consul displayed the new-found cooperation we are presently enjoying with the ministry of foreign affairs. Everyone went out of their way to get Seychelles on the Indian tourism map,” St. Ange said.
It has now been confirmed that the Indian tour operators were enthusiastic about the new push from Seychelles, and also the tourism board has said that the Seychelles delegation had a positive meeting with the airline to look at the possibility of direct flights linking Seychelles and India.
Small groups are already arriving in Seychelles from India, and all four main DMCs have now confirmed groups arriving from India. The Seychelles delegation also met the Bollywood groups, and discussions will continue to see how Seychelles can capture a share of the glamorous market.
