Clever business traveller release their secretary

( A reduced VAT rate of 7 percent for accommodation in the hospitality industry is since January 2010 valid, which the German government enact last year to help the economic growth. Hoteliers and as well as guests where looking forward to the new development, like reductions in accommodation rates or new capital for innovations and investment.
However, one and a half month after the implementation the euphoria is gone and Germany debates.

The major difficulty, in the tax reduction of 12 percent for the hotel service, is that it is just valid for the accommodation. Breakfast, restaurant and as well conference services are still taxed with 19 percent. The additional bureaucratic pressure is especially to feel for secretaries and the accountants of companies with many business travellers. In 2009 the allowance for catering refunds of overnight costs was
EUR 4.80 during inland trips. This regulation conduced to simplify the claim for travel expenses, as the fewest hotel invoices show accommodation and food separate. Therefore this blanket allowance replaces very often the real value of the food.

This uncomplicated and established way of doing the claim for travel expenses is not possible with the two different tax rates in 2010. All accommodation facilities have to show their breakfast as a separate position on their invoices. The travelling company has to shorten the actual breakfast cost of the invoice amount. The reimbursable income tax allowance decrease, as the costs are regularly over the allowance of EUR 4.80.
The additional effort is extensive and the easiest way to avoid it is that the business travellers book only the accommodation and cater for themselves. However the self made breakfast is hard to prepare in a classical hotel room. Dishes, cutlery and of course a fridge, to store the purchase, are missing. In this case the concept of boarding houses is ideal. Employees are staying in a fully equipped apartment, like at home. The integrated kitchen is the specific plus. It is not just possible to prepare

breakfast, thanks to the cooking facilities, the sink and most of the time the dish washer travellers can feed independently.
In case that there is no time to do the grouchier shopping, how it is often with business travellers, a serviced apartment is recommended. The concept includes spacious apartments; most of the time separated living and sleeping areas as well as a kitchen combined with diverse services. For the clever, self supplying business traveller are offers available with shopping services for a perfectly filled fridge or if it is just a short-term stays, the bread roll services in the morning.
The concept of boarding houses makes even more sense in the year 2010. The popularity for apartment houses within companies is growing, travellers enjoy their own kitchen and Germany’s secretaries are glad to by-pass the bureaucracy!
