Building capacity of developing economies to compete globally ( The University of Maryland Eastern Shore in the United States, in collaboration with its partners, Golden Beach Hotels, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science&Technology, and the University of Cape Coast, will hold an international workshop at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel on the topic “Capacity Building for Global Competitiveness in Developing Economies – The Nexus of Technology Development and Transfer, Education, and Culture.” The workshop is expected to bring together delegates from all walks of life: academia, policy makers, government officials, donor agencies, NGOs, and development practitioners. This will be the third in a series of workshops organized by the University of Maryland and its partners on how to position the economies of developing countries to compete effectively in the global marketplace. The workshop agenda allows panelists to present their views on specific topics followed by a question and answer session.

The three-day workshop, which is scheduled for October 14 to 16, 2009, will have post workshop activities for interested participants. The University of Maryland Eastern Shore has made special lodging arrangements with the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra for participants, therefore, both workshop registration and accommodation arrangements should be done through the university.
