May Airport Results - Total Passengers from 295 Airports

May traffic is reported as 4.6% ahead of 2006. The 295 airports which have so far published their results for May represent almost half of the total projected traffic for the month and their 4.6% compares quite favourably with 4.2% projected for them a month ago.
Across the three main regions the pattern of demand growth is quite different:
- Asia/Pacific passengers rose by 8.3% against forecast of 7.3%
- Europe was up 3.8%, but the UK increase was less than 1%
- North America showed growth of 3.9%, easily clearing the 1.2% forecast.

USA Ahead 3.7% on 2006
Although 2006 was a year of restructuring in the USA, the significance of the early May results should not be talked down. The 2007 May hike was 3.7% on 2006 and 2.6% on 2005 with the strong probability that the final figures for the month will go higher. Amongst the leading players to declare in the last seven days are:

Europe Dips as the UK Stumbles
The rapid reporting airports in the European region have announced a 3.8% increase in May traffic. Several of the major hubs have seemed somewhat subdued. The May increase in the UK was 0.9% against a forecast of 3.1%:
