VIP lounge at the airport of Dusseldorf

( High-tech flat panel displays, additional premises and warm colors: After an extensive reconstruction the VIP lounge of Dusseldorf Airport is now even more comfortable and modern. Warm shades of red and a generous sitting area welcome guests from all over the world in the imposing reception area already. Behind the individual security check five separate lounge areas are accessible: Two for smokers, two for non-smokers and the so-called Gate 99. The latter holds at least 35 people and may be used for meetings for example.

“As an international hub we recognize the daily increasing expectations of guests from around the world,” says Christoph Blume, CEO of the airport management of Dusseldorf International. “Our new VIP lounge meets the different expectations and facilitates a special way of traveling.” In an own small terminal below pier A the VIP service of Dusseldorf offers passengers a very individual way of travelling discreetly and comfortably.

Without any queues and completely individual

Unique at commercial airports in Germany: Dusseldorf’s VIP lounge can be accessed directly along an own driveway in the arrivals level of the airport. Guests with baggage should arrive 60 minutes before their departure at the latest, guests without baggage 45 minutes. As soon as the passengers have passed the security check on location, which is manned specially for each guest, they may focus on their work in peace or simply relax in the lounge area of their choice. In the meantime, the employees of the VIP service take care of the check-in or the reclaiming of baggage with arriving passengers and they handle all formalities. In a BMW limousine type 750 Li or, in case of a larger number of travelling companions, in a Mercedes van they bring passengers to the aircraft or pick them up there.

The view to the apron as well as stylish furnishings are guaranteed in each of the five lounge areas. State-of-the-art technology, such as high-resolution flat-panel TVs and internet terminals, various international daily newspapers and magazines as well as a small bar cater for a varied and pleasant stay. The comfortable showers and toilets allow everyone who wants to freshen themselves up to do so.

“Our guests appreciate especially the quiet that we offer here,” says Klaus Novotny, head of the VIP service at the airport of Dusseldorf. “They have a packed day and use the time with us to work without being disturbed, to hold meetings or to relax a little bit.” Mr Novotny and his team took care of more than 6,000 guests in 2008 with an upward trend. Primarily business travelers use the service, because it offers the possibility to travel efficiently and work concentrated during waiting periods. Amongst the guests are celebrities from business, sports or the film industry. But more and more individual travelers treat themselves to this very exceptional service for their vacation.

The VIP service costs 199 Euro per person and is valid for one departure or one arrival. For each additional person the airport charges just 79 Euro. Bookings can be made on the homepage of the airport at by selecting the item VIP service or by telephone at 0049 211-421 2346.
