World Travel Market improves admission policy

World Travel Market improves admission policy (Forimmediaterelease.net) World Travel Market, the premier global event for the travel industry, has improved its existing admission policy.

Launched last year, the new admission policy is designed to benefit both exhibitors and visitors. The policy gives exhibitors greater choice over who attends on the first day of the event (Monday, November 9) and all WTM delegates more flexibility over when to attend.

In 2008, this policy led to an overall increase in visitor attendance with almost 50,000 (49,963) participants attending across the four days - an increase of 4 percent on 2007.

The admission policy sees:

Monday, November 9: WTM open to all exhibitors, exhibitor invitees, ministers, press, and WTM invitees

Tuesday, November 10: (conference, seminar and event program opens) - Exhibition and conference, seminar, and event program open to all exhibitors, Meridian Club members, travel trade professionals, exhibitor invitees, ministers, and press

Wednesday,November 11 and Thursday, November 12: Exhibition and conference, seminar, and event program open to all exhibitors, Meridian Club members, travel trade professionals, exhibitor invitees, ministers, press, and students (University and second-year college students only)

Following exhibitor and participant feedback, the deadline for exhibitor invitation submissions has been extended by an additional four weeks to Monday, September 14.

World Travel Market chairman Fiona Jeffery said: “The invitation submission extension will allow exhibitors to invite even more of their key business contacts, giving them more time and greater flexibility when deciding who to invite to attend WTM on the Monday.”

WTM remains a four-day trade event with a comprehensive conference, seminar, and events program running from Tuesday, November 10 - Thursday, November 12. Participants to WTM are welcome to attend these sessions, and visitor numbers are expected to rise in accordance.

To encourage exhibitors to invite their key contacts to attend WTM, the new My Invitations database initiative has been launched. If an exhibitor invites 50 percent or more of their invitee allocation before the deadline, they will have free access to the My Invitations database. The database allows exhibitors to engage with pre-registered participants from Monday, September 28.

World Travel Market’s exhibition director Craig Moyes said: “Last year the new admission policy created more flexibility for participants over which days of World Travel Market to attend.

“The policy underpins the value of WTM as a four-day, trade-only business forum for the travel and tourism industry and reinforces the significance of delivering buyers to exhibitors, while also delivering a comprehensive seminar conference and event program to all WTM delegates.”
