Spring Fling festival in Dawsonville, GA combines art show, musical entertainment, road races, kid activities, beauty of the mountains, and more ( DAWSONVILLE - The Dawson County Arts Council knows how to throw a party. On May 2 and 3, the Council will hold its annual Spring Fling in downtown Dawsonville and the Dawsonville Middle School. A juried art show, quilt exhibit, Mountain Art Bike Ride and Thunder Road 5&10K Road Race, musical entertainment, and performances, including the 40-member strong Chorale and the Sawnee Community Band from Cumming—doggie fashion show, and “Cruise In” car show are all part of the festival fun. The festival is free and so is the parking. Visit to see all the events.

May in the mountains is a beautiful time to visit: the mountain laurel and rhododendron are in bloom, the mountain landscape is full of color that rivals autumn’s burnished palette, and spring is in the air. For those who want to attend the festival and make a weekend of it in Dawsonville, it is the perfect time to enjoy nature by hiking, biking, fishing, or taking out canoes or kayaks and paddling down the river amidst the flora-lined riverbanks.
