Appointment of general manager & director of sales and marketing for Carlton Hotel Singapore

My career has taken me to more than twelve countries around the world, but I am delighted to be back in Singapore as I see tremendous opportunities in the hospitality and tourism sector in this country. I am delighted to be given the opportunity to lead Carlton Hotel Singapore, a hotel with a firm strategy in tackling the challenges of the current global recession.”
A native of Austria, Rudi is a well-traveled and multi-lingual individual with 25 years of experience as a general manager in the hospitality industry. He holds a consistent record of managing high-quality establishments around the world.
Following his graduation from The Hotel Industry School at Waldegg, Austria, Rudi first established his career in front office and room operations in various hotels, using the early days to travel across several European and American cities. Subsequently, he worked in over twelve countries, including Jamaica, Hawaii, Fiji, Thailand, and China, to name a few. Over the years, he rose up the ranks to become general manager of a few premium hotels. Some of these hotels include, Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel&Towers in Bangkok, Thailand and Grand Formosa Regent in Taipei, Taiwan. Under his leadership these hotels grew and prospered.
In 1990, Rudi moved to Singapore to manage ANA Hotel Singapore as general manager, for a period of 8 years. Once again under his leadership, the hotel flourished and saw profits more than doubled during his second year at the hotel.
Last stationed in China, Rudi will be bringing with him a wealth of experience gained from many years within the industry and will be providing strong leadership and strategic direction to Carlton Hotel Singapore.
Commenting on their upcoming, new Premier Wing and the tourism industry in Singapore, Rudi shared enthusiastically: “I see Singapore as a vibrant city, rich in cultural heritage and with a large spectrum of attractions. This presents a great opportunity for hoteliers to support Singapore’s drive in becoming southeast Asia’s tourism hub and a must-visit destination on the world map. The Carlton Hotel Singapore, with its new Premier Wing, which is slated to be completed by the first quarter of 2010, is well positioned against the development of key attractions such as the Integrated Resorts at Marina Bay and Resorts World at Sentosa, in terms of capturing market share of this vibrant growth. Also, with the opening of the new Premier Wing, the hotel will have a large inventory of 915 rooms, catering to the ever-growing tourism industry of Singapore.”
The hotel is delighted to have Rudi join the team and believes that he will bring the Carlton Hospitality to an even higher level.
With over 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Ms. Tracy Ng expressed her enthusiasm at joining the hotel: “I am extremely excited to be a part of the dynamic Carlton team especially with the upcoming Premier Wing, which is due to launch in the 1st quarter of next year. I am looking forward to the re-positioning of the hotel and the boundless opportunities of capturing market share and new businesses with the upcoming Integrated Resorts at Marina Bay and Resorts World at Sentosa.”
A Singaporean, Tracy is a highly-experienced individual with an outstanding record of leading sales teams in established hotels. She has joined the hotel from Traders Hotel Singapore, where she was the director of marketing for the last 5 years. As the director of marketing, she led and came up with marketing programs and activities for the hotel and was actively involved in the process of securing major business accounts for the hotel.
Tracy first established her career in the front office at the Dynasty Hotel Singapore. Her interest in sales led her to join various properties as a sales manager and over the years, she rose up the ranks to director of sales&marketing. Subsequently, she led the team at Elizabeth Hotel as general manager. Under her leadership, these hotels flourished.
Tracy brings with her a wealth of experience gained from many years within the industry and will be providing strong leadership and strategic direction to the sales team at Carlton Hotel Singapore.
