Global Fairs - Global Business

( * International flagship fairs open doors to world markets
* Deutsche Messe stages around 100 events every year
* 2007 lineup includes major trade fairs such as CeBIT,
* Strategic tradeshow alliances for a world of opportunities

With today's markets speeding down the road to globalization at a dizzying pace, businesses are increasingly rising to the challenge for example by sourcing goods and services from around the world. Nowadays it is not uncommon for a product's hardware to be “made in Germany", its software to be developed in India and its components to come from the Czech Republic. Only by leveraging the available international options for design, manufacturing and distribution can companies maintain a competitive edge and derive maximum benefit from globalization.

Leading international trade shows provide an excellent opportunity to see what's available on world markets. Deutsche Messe (based in Hannover, Germany) is a global player dedicated to forming strategic international alliances. In this way the company can offer its customers ideal conditions for doing business in China, India, Russia and other high-growth markets around the world.

Within Germany, Deutsche Messe and Stuttgarter Messe- und Kongressgesellschaft mbH (SMK) are intensifying their collaboration. June 2008 will see the premiere of the new surface coating show “O&S - Oberflächen und Schichten" in Stuttgart. Further events are in the pipeline.

Joint ventures like this one enable Deutsche Messe to unlock new business opportunities for global tradeshow clientele. Aided by the positive business climate, 2007 will be an action-packed year for Deutsche Messe featuring such major draws as CeBIT, HANNOVER MESSE and EMO Hannover.

Leading trade fairs in 2007

In keeping with tradition, DOMOTEX HANNOVER opened the trade fair year in 2007. The leading trade show for carpets and floor coverings boasted 1,360 exhibitors over 91,500 square meters of net display area. The show impressed with its international atmosphere, a unique range of products, and an excellent supporting program including events focusing on the industry's key issues. Highlights in the visitor program included the associated forum contractworld, a recognized event for architects and interior designers, floorforum, an imaginative crowd-puller showcasing the latest trends, and other special events. A total of 44,000 trade visitors attended the international industry meeting this year.

CeBIT 2007 - the top event for the international ICT sector - took place from 15 to 21 March 2007. It included 6,100 exhibitors on a net area of 280,000 square meters and was seven days of pure information technology, telecommunications and consumer electronics. In fact, CeBIT set industry trends again this year - media and networks are merging, IT applications are optimizing customer benefits, and lifestyle feeling is replacing pure fascination with technology. Around 480,000 trade visitors in total attended CeBIT 2007.

HANNOVER MESSE 2007 - Rallying under the slogan “Get new technology first", over 6,600 exhibitors joined forces at the world's most important technology event which attracted 240,000 trade visitors. The whole of the available exhibition space - a total of 225,000 square meters - was fully booked. Consisting of 12 interrelated trade shows, HANNOVER MESSE 2007 focused on industrial automation ("Robotics World"), power transmission and control, as well as energy technology ("World Energy Dialogue"). Turkey was honored as this year's official Partner Country. HANNOVER MESSE 2007 featured a rich program of about a thousand conferences, forums and special presentations parallel to the actual exhibition.

In September, the list of this year's mega-events will continue with EMO Hannover - the World of Metalworking. The spotlight here will be on machine tools, production systems, precision tools, materials handling, computer technology, industrial electronics and accessories.

Other high-tech industries are also addressed by Deutsche Messe tradeshows in 2007, for example LIGNA+ HANNOVER, which was staged in the middle of May as the leading fair for the international timber and woodworking community, with 1,879 exhibitors from 49 different countries on hand to treat over 107,000 visitors to exhibits filling 134,583 square meters of net space. Here the entire value-added chain was featured, from timber harvesting to the series production of wood products, plus innovative surface finishing methods. LIGNA+ HANNOVER 2007 met with great enthusiasm on the part of visitors and exhibitors alike, with exhibitors widely speaking of a strong upwind sweeping across all participating sectors. Special highlights of the show were the “Handwerk, Holz&mehr" display dedicated to the skilled woodworking trades , plus the highly topical themes of timber construction, wood as a source of energy and surface finishing.

In October of 2007, the fast-growing BIOTECHNICA will showcase market-ready biotech solutions for food production, agriculture, pharmaceuticals and the environmental sector. In November this will be followed by AGRITECHNICA 2007, the International DLG Exhibition for Agricultural Machinery. The 2005 edition of AGRITECHNICA attracted 250,000 members of the agricultural industry from all over the world.

Deutsche Messe's subsidiary Travel2Fairs organizes travel and accommodation, meetings, conferences, receptions, tourist programs, VIP services and shuttle services. When arranging accommodation Travel2Fairs gives priority to around 100 hotels which have committed themselves to providing the best possible service for tradeshow visitors.

Ultramodern venue

Extending over a total area of 1 million square meters, the Hannover Exhibition Center boasts the best in high-tech infrastructure. The halls (nearly all of which are air-conditioned) offer direct ground-floor access. This also facilitates fast and efficient assembly and dismantling. The generously landscaped areas between the halls - complete with trees, fountains and biotopes - give visitors and exhibitors a pleasant environment in which to take a well-earned rest.

All roads lead to Hannover

Hannover is a major transportation hub in northern Germany, with excellent road, rail and flight connections: High-speed ICE trains serve the exhibition grounds at hourly intervals. Hannover Airport offers about 600 non-stop flights per week to and from all major European cities. Six-lane highways ensure rapid access to Hannover exhibitions, and on-site parking is available for around 50,000 vehicles.
