June 12, 2007 - Corinthia Grand Hotel Royal, one of Budapest’s award-winning five-star hotels, received the “Five Star Diamond Award” from the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences. The award is presented to top hotels that offer luxury services and demonstrate an unrelenting commitment to customer service and hospitality of the highest order.

The Award was presented to hotel General Manager Adrian Ellis by Vittorio G. Gai, president of the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences, during a ceremony held in the Hotel’s opulent baroque ballroom. Assisting in the presentations was Miss Kitti Szabó, voted Miss Hungary 2006.

Introducing the Academy and the Award, Vittorio G. Gai said “This award is given to only a few establishments around the world that demonstrate a commitment to excellence in terms of superior hospitality and customer services. I am pleased to remark that the Corinthia Grand Hotel Royal sits very comfortably in this category.”

The more than 200 VIP guests attending the ceremony, including Israeli ambassador David Admon, consul to Jordan Zaid Naffa, and president of the Hungarian Tourism Board Ákos Niklai, were treated to a feast of delicacies prepared by Executive Chef Vincent Astier, to the accompaniment of the Hungarian Opera House string-quartet.

Accepting the Award, general manager Adrian Ellis said “I am truly honoured to be receiving this award on behalf of the hotel’s 300 employees, whose tireless efforts and dedication to duties made all this possible. Our hotel now proudly joins an elite international band of hotels that have been similarly recognised, including the Dorchester in London, the Ritz in Paris and the Burj Al Arab in Dubai”.

The evening was sponsored by Caprice Diamonds (Hungary) and Ferrari, with Caprice presenting 10 lucky invitees with real diamonds.

The Corinthia Grand Hotel Royal is owned by Malta-based International Hotel Investments plc (IHI) and operated by Corinthia Hotels International (CHI), a joint venture between IHI (70%) and Wyndham Hotel Group (WHG) of the US (30%). CHI undertakes hotel management operations for Corinthia Group, IHI, and third party owned hotels and is the exclusive management company for WHG managed hotels in the EMEA region operating under the Corinthia, Ramada Plaza and Wyndham brands.
