Italy is a veritable bargain this spring

Italy is a veritable bargain this spring ( LIBERTYVILLE, IL - With a greatly-improved euro/dollar exchange rate, good-deal packages to the major cities and huge discounts at a raft of hotels, there's never been a better time to visit Italy. Some of the reasons it's such a bargain:

A euro is worth only US$1.28 right now, down from US$1.58 as recently as July, which means restaurant meals, taxis, sightseeing, entertainment — even gloves, shoes, and that Armani jacket — cost 30 percent less than they did last summer.

TourCrafters has extended its good-deal Spring Break packages to
March 31 (they must be booked by March 18). Packages — which start at US$498 for Rome, US$519 for Florence, and US$619 for Venice — include round-trip air from New York on Alitalia, four nights' accommodation, daily buffet breakfast, tax and service. (The Rome package even includes a 10 euro coupon for sightseeing tours.) Hotel upgrades and air fare add-ons from other cities are available.

TourCrafters is also offering a great family getaway to Rome. Take the kids and spend a full week in a luxury apartment in the center of Rome, living like the Romans do. Only US$715 per person covers an apartment, sleeping mom, dad, and two kids, round-trip air from New York, and a panoramic tour on a double-decker bus.

Some of TourCrafters' favorite hotels are offering up to a 30 percent discount, if booked by March 18. Among the most popular are the Hotel Genio and Hotel Michelangelo in Rome, the Hotel Meridiana and Palazzo Ricasoli in Florence, and the Hotel Malibran and Palazzo Stern in Venice.

All package prices are subject to availability and do not include airport taxes of US$112 and fuel surcharges of US$224. Reservations must be paid for within 72 hours of booking.
