ITE MICE & ITE The 21st International Travel Expo Hong Kong - Asia’s leading international trade fair

(Forimmediaterelease.net) Expansions by past exhibitors, new official pavilions by overseas tourism boards and more individual exhibitors! ITE, Asia’s leading international travel expo and the concurrent ITE MICE continue expanding and will use a total of five halls this year, when in 2004 only two halls were used. Besides expansion in scale and quantity, more importantly, the events have more to offer especially on up market travels.

The Chief Executive of Hong Kong SAR, the Honorable Donald Tsang, has sent a Message to welcome all participants of ITE and ITE MICE this year, while the Expo will be opened by Mr. Stephen Ip, Hong Kong’s Economic Secretary, and Mr. Zhang Xiqing, Vice Chairman of China National Tourism Administration. Also attending are senior officials, chairmen and presidents of travel trade associations and corporate leaders from the travel industry from the region.

Taking part this year are around six hundred fifty international exhibitors from over fifty countries and regions from Africa, Americas, Asia, Europe, Middle East and the Oceania; some fifty official pavilions and/or participations by tourism authorities with over half of them from outside Asia. New country pavilions in ITE this year come from Abu Dhabi, Botswana, Czech & Prague, Cuba, Iran, Maldives, Nepal, Turkey, USA, Vietnam and Yemen.

Reflecting her status as the world fourth most popular international destination, China pavilion is again the largest. With expansion this year close to 40%, Japan becomes the second largest official pavilion, to be followed closely in scale by those of Hong Kong, Macau, Malaysia, Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand etc. A number of other pavilions have also expanded their participation scale, and those with growth percentage similar to Japan include Dubai, Malaysia, Mexico and Zimbabwe. While there are more official pavilions from the long haul, in general, Asian pavilions take up more space.

Official pavilions now often incorporate in their stand designs national characteristics, or highlight particular theme, and stage cultural performances. Taking more space means there are more co-exhibitors and more on offer. For example, there are seven hot spring resorts and eight Farms / Ranches in the Taiwanese pavilion.

For the second time ITE MICE is being held concurrently with ITE, as leisure and business travels are not entirely separable. Exhibitors of ITE MICE include international and China based hotel chains, resort & boutique hotels and golf club, airlines ranging from business charter jet, full service carrier to budget airline tapping into business travel, convention centers, and official pavilions. In fact, more MICE and business travel sellers can also be found in ITE such as the Macau pavilion there.

ITE MICE is the only of its kind not only in Hong Kong but also in southern China, and more unique is that it is being held concurrently with ITE for greater synergy. This year, ITE MICE receives official support by chambers of commerce and the event industry from Hong Kong and neighboring cities in Guangdong. To facilitate visit of corporate management, a new Guest Ticket is being introduced this year with very encouraging responses.

There is a comprehensive presentation by theme parks and attractions in Hong Kong, which include Disneyland, Ngong Ping 360, Wetland Park and the Ocean Park. From neighboring regions, there are the Safari by Guangzhou Chime-long, Leofoo Village theme park in Taiwan, and new facilities in Macau. Or for a change, visit our cruise exhibitors and plan a trip that includes destinations nearby.

This year Hong Kong will celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Re-unification with mainland China. To celebrate the occasion, the Hong Kong Tourism Commission will hold a Forum, while Chairman Shao of China National Tourism Administration will host a banquet during our Expo. A number of tourism boards from other countries and regions will also be holding press conference, presentation, reception and workshop.

ITE & ITE MICE support and promote social responsibility. We sponsor the presence of the annual project of “Mighty Rovers”, which this year will take participants to China’s Sichuan province to help in constructing a primary school in a remote village there and raise fund for other village schools; the prize presentation of My Favorite Hong Kong brands with award winners base on polling results by tenths of thousand of mainland travelers to Hong Kong.

For years, ITE & ITE MICE run a hosted buyer program which is being sponsored by the Official Airlines of Cathay and Dragonair, and Official Rail of KCRC. The program has been extended to include corporate buyers and media. There are significant increases this year of hosted buyers from India, North and East China, and for the first time a hosted media delegation of over 40 delegates from different parts of Guangdong. Last year, ITE MICE & ITE were attended by 10000 buyers and trade visitors with over 35% from mainland China and abroad, and 55000 public visitors. While emphasis has been shifted to quality, there is good chance to surpass records last year judging from the encouraging response.

Increasingly, the international tourism industry recognizes and uses ITE & ITE MICE as an effective platform to cover the Asian markets. With a highly international exhibitor profile and contents particularly suitable for the up market on business, MICE and leisure travels, ITE & ITE MICE therefore have a lot to offer.

The 21st International Travel Expo Hong Kong (ITE) will be held from June 14 to 17, while the concurrent ITE MICE from June 14 to 16 both at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Center. Organized by TKS Exhibition Services Ltd., the Expo is supported by China National Tourism Administration, Hong Kong Tourism Board, Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong and Macau Government Tourist Office.
