TourCrafters' Italian lakes symphony starts at $1,289

TourCrafters' Italian lakes symphony starts at $1,289 ( Libertyville, IL - There's a good reason why George Clooney and Richard Branson own vacation homes on Lake Como. Ringed with photogenic villas and villages, it is arguably the world's most beautiful lake. TourCrafters has put it together with another knockout city and lake — Verona and Lake Garda — and the world's most beautiful city — Venice — in a one-week package for the non-celebrity traveler that costs only $1,289.

The 8-day/7-night package includes round-trip air on Alitalia from New York to either Milan or Venice, three nights at the Hotel Malibran in Venice, two nights at Agriturismo Delo outside Verona, and two nights at the Grand Hotel Como on Lake Como, plus six days car rental, daily breakfast, a wine tasting at Delo, hotel service and taxes, and fuel surcharges.

The Malibran is an historic Venetian-style hotel located conveniently near the Rialto Bridge and Grand Canal, while the Agriturismo Delo is a country-lodge-turned-charming B&B. Surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, Delo is just five miles from Romeo and Juliet's hometown Verona and its famous Roman amphitheater, and a half hour from scenic Lake Garda and the picturesque town of Sirmione. The new, deluxe Grand Hotel Como sits in its own private park very close to Lake Como between the city of Como and the village of Cernobbio.

TourCrafters has a similar package that spends three nights each at Agriturismo Delo and Grand Hotel Como. Air fare add-ons from cities other than New York are: $30 from Chicago, $65 from Miami, and $190 from Los Angeles.

All prices quoted are per person, double occupancy, are subject to availability, and do not include airport taxes of $112. Reservations must be paid for within 72 hours of booking.
