"Domestic tourism can only open up Seychelles to its islanders" said Tourism Minister to Jeany Rath and Travis Fred in the western part of the main island of Mahe

"Domestic tourism can only open up Seychelles to its islanders" said Tourism Minister to Jeany Rath and Travis Fred in the western part of the main island of Mahe (Forimmediaterelease.net) “Work to increase domestic tourism can only open up Seychelles to its islanders," said Minister Alain St.Ange, the island's Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, as he toured the west side of Mahe recently, accompanied by Anne Lafortune, the PS for Tourism, and representatives from the Tourism Board. Domestic tourism is today being highly encouraged in Seychelles, and it is becoming quite popular. Many small establishments are going down this avenue, and this is adding to the development of the islands’ tourism industry.

The Minister for Tourism and Culture, Alain St.Ange, said this after visiting Villa Bethlehem, a small tourism establishment located in the western part of the main island of Mahe, after Minister St.Ange and his delegation visited other tourism establishments in the northern and southern parts of Mahe before heading to Villa Bethlehem.

They were met upon their arrival by the managers of Villa Bethlehem, Jeany Rath and Travis Fred. Villa Bethlehem is a four-bedroom establishment located at Anse Boileau not far from the main road and the beach.

After visiting the place and speaking to the owners, Minister St.Ange said it is clear that domestic tourism is on the rise in the country, adding that it is a great venture that needs to be encouraged.

He added that the people of Seychelles also need to enjoy the products of their own tourism industry, and that Seychelles needs to encourage the people of the islands to spend a holiday on one of their own islands, and appreciate what Seychelles has as a country and to experience what their tourism sector can offer. “Claiming back our industry also means knowing and appreciating what we have as unique selling points that keep attracting tourists to our shores," said Minister St.Ange.

Local tourism establishments can also benefit from domestic tourism in the traditionally off-peak periods linked to international tourism.
