Centara Hotels and Resorts announces new GMs
As Centara prepares to open the Centara Grand West Bay Doha in Qatar in Q4 2016, it is exciting to be able to introduce Mr. James Robert Wilson as General Manager. Wilson will be overseeing the opening of this new property, which will be Centara’s second in the Middle East. With many years of experience in the hotel industry and having worked for many hotels and resorts all over the world including Scotland, Thailand, Dubai and Abu Dhabin, Wilson brings a wealth of knowledge that will support the successful opening of Centara Grand Doha. Wilson has worked as General Manager of the Pathumwan Princess Hotel Bangkok, Dusit Thani Hotel Bangkok, Dusit Thani Hotel Dubai, United Arab Emirates and as Vice President Operations of Dusit International and Dusit Princess Hotels. Before joining CHR, he was a General Manager at Millennium Corniche Hotel Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Khum Phaya Resort&Spa, Centara Boutique Collection, Chiang Mai ( www.centarahotelsresorts.com/boutique/kpc/ ) welcomes Ms. Jirachada Assavanich as the new General Manager. Assavanich will cover the resort operations as well as the Khum Kham Convention Centre, which is considered to be the largest, most luxurious convention venue in the north of Thailand. Joining Centara with more than 21 years of experience in the hotel and service industries, Assavanich worked with many leading hotels such as Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok, Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok, Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit and the Landmark Hotel Bangkok. She was acting General Manager at Grand Postal Building managed by Impact Exhibition Management Co. Ltd prior joining Centara.
Centara Grand West Sands Resort&Villas Phuket ( www.centarahotelsresorts.com/centaragrand/cgwp/ ) has welcomed a new General Manager, Mr. Denis Thouvard. With a career in the restaurant and hotel industry spanning more than three decades, Thouvard has a deep understanding of all aspects of service delivery. Thouvard has worked for world class properties such as Luxury Collection Bora Bora Nui Resort and Spa, Le Royal Meridien Phuket Yacht Club, and Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit Bangkok. Starting with Centara in 2009 as the General Manager for the opening of Centara Grand Beach Resort Phuket, Thouvard was then promoted to Area General Manager in 2012. Prior to Thouvard re-joining the Centara Family, he worked as the General Manager at Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket.
Mr. Komang Artana has been appointed the new General Manager of Centra Taum Seminyak Bali ( www.centarahotelsresorts.com/centra/ctb/ ). An Indonesian national with more than 20 years of experience within the region, Artana has worked with many exceptional properties such as Holiday Inn Resort Lombok, Aston Bali Resort&Spa, Banyan Tree Bintan, Holiday Inn Resort Batam, Holiday Inn Resort Baruna Bali, Holiday Inn Melaka, Fave Hotel Seminyak Bali and Best Western Premier Sunset Road Kuta Bali. Prior to joining Centara, Artana was the opening General Manager for Best Western Premier La Grande Hotel Bandung, Indonesia.
