Flora of the Seychelles - a field-guide to selected plants by Steen G. Hansen and Victorin Laboudallon

Flora of the Seychelles - a field-guide to selected plants by Steen G. Hansen and Victorin Laboudallon (Forimmediaterelease.net) In notes about a book on plants in the Seychelles, it is written that in the reprint of this field guide to selected plants found in the country, the authors have chosen 321 of the higher flowering plants, of which 66 are known endemic to the Seychelles.

Steen Hansen, a retired lecturer with an M.Sc. in Biology, along with a known nature personality of Praslin, Victorin Laboudallon, called on Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, to firstly present a copy of their book and secondly to seek the support of the industry for a book that has been referred to as the tool for any nature lover.

“A reprint is needed, and we need to get the tourism industry to engage with us as this book is one that is sought after by visitors," the authors said.

The 726-page book printed in Denmark with hundreds of color photos is published as a hard-back collection of Seychelles flora. “It is an impressive document that every tourism establishment needs to have at their reception and owned by DMCs and tourist guides. It puts names to plants and flowers we see every day, and it makes a bush walk more interesting," said Minister St.Ange as he appealed for the industry to support the authors.

Mr. Hansen and Mr. Laboudallon are inviting businesses to brand their company on the back cover of the book. “This is open to hotels or tourism companies or even airline companies conscious of the green marketing approach," the authors of the book said at the Ministry of Tourism and Culture offices at ESPACE Building in Victoria.
