"Dear Santa" contest determines a very deserving winner for a vacation to the Bahamas

"Dear Santa" contest determines a very deserving winner for a vacation to the Bahamas ( Nassau, The Bahamas – It will be a merrier Christmas for the Kaufman’s of Greendale, Wisconsin, winners of the “Dear Santa” social media promotion, who won a 4 Day/3 Night trip to the Sandpiper Inn, Schooner Bay, The Abacos. The promotion was sponsored by The Bahama Out Islands Promotion Board.

To enter the Dear Santa contest, people were asked to draft a note to be entered on social media – either Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram — nominating a very deserving person, someone who may ordinarily not be able to afford such a trip. From the many entries received, Mr. Braud Kaufman’s note about his wife stood out, stating:

“This photo of my beautiful strong wife was from this summer (2015) during her journey with Breast Cancer. We were so very fortunate to have had taken a trip to Cat Island in January of '15 before this was even an issue. Needless to say the chemo was very hard on her and she was unable to work. You have no idea how many times we have looked at those photos, remembering that wonderful trip. And dreaming of getting back, which is one thing I referenced to her many times to get better. Her journey is done, and she is in remission. She fought hard, and I would so love to tell her that she gets to go back to make new memories.”

“We are happy to fulfill the wish of Mrs. Kaufman and take her back to The Bahamas, a place that held such special memories for her,” said Joy Jibrilu, Director General, Bahamas Ministry fo Tourism. “We hope that this trip will bring her new adventures in our beautiful Out Islands that she and her husband will treasure for years to come.”
