Green Globe recently re-certified Mövenpick Hotel Gammarth Tunis for another year. The hotel has been successful in implementing sustainable initiatives across a range of areas in accordance with Green Globe criteria.

Mövenpick Hotel Gammarth Tunis focused on creating an effective energy and resource management plan in 2015. This included replacing traditional lighting systems with LED and changing various chemicals over to environmentally friendly products. Cleaning procedures were also amended and further adapted to reduce the quantity and frequency of use of chemical products. The savings in these areas were substantial and overall expenditure dropped by 20%. In addition, energy as well as water consumption decreased due to the installation of new energy and water saving measures.
With the demand for green meetings on the increase Mövenpick Hotel Gammarth Tunis has created a Green Package offer that follows Green Globe principles and caters to environmentally conscious clientele. Visitors can choose from a variety of healthy coffee break menu options that feature local, organically grown food items. Also, clients are encouraged to choose eco-friendly initiatives such as having mineral water served in jugs placed on tables rather than being individually bottled.
In line with its environmental policy the hotel strongly supports the protection of native flora and fauna. It introduced the use of chemical free fertilizers and pesticides this year to minimize its impact on the surrounding environment.
As part of its corporate social responsibility program to develop stronger community relationships, the Green Team plans to host a function for a group of local fishermen at the property’s private beach. Mövenpick Hotel Gammarth Tunis also sponsors several local associations and organizations such as the Al Makan organization for contemporary art. And hotel staff have also participated in humanitarian actions organized by the Tunisian-Canadian Association (N’oublie Jamais) that helps underprivileged children.
