Reunion Island remains among the top French destinations in terms of reservations (Forimmediaterelease.net) Each month, the tourism barometer SNAV/Atout France reflects the trends of the activity of French travel distributors to French destinations (mainland and overseas) and including those called medium and long-haul. This survey gives a picture of developments in the market of tourism-related sales, both in number of passengers and volume of business over a year. It also provides information on reservation time and duration of stay. These data refer systematically on bookings and departures.

RESERVATIONS POSITIVE FOR THE DESTINATION IN OCTOBER 2015

The SNAV barometer/Atout France indicates that Reunion Island remains one of the top French destinations in terms of booking volumes. In second place, behind the French West Indies, Reunion Island is positioned ahead of French Polynesia and mainland France, with a positive trend in both the number of passengers and the volume of business.

REUNION ISLAND IN TERMS OF BOOKINGS HAS RECORDED:

For reservations -

- A 4% increase in the number of passengers.

- A 10% increase in business volume.

For departures -

- A 16% increase in the number of passengers.

- A decline of 2% in sales volume.

THE TRENDS IN RESERVATIONS AND DEPARTURE:

LONGER STAYS ON REUNION ISLAND PREFERRED BY TRAVELERS

While travelers to mainland France are opting predominantly for short stays (80%) between 1 and 4 nights, those traveling to Reunion Island mostly spend more than 12 days on the island (79% ).

This relatively long stay on Reunion Island is a strong indicator in terms of economic benefits and encourages tourism professionals to prioritize a wide range of tourist offers.

OPTIMISM BY TRAVEL AGENTS FOR REUNION ISLAND SINCE JANUARY 2015

This barometer also measures the trend of bookings and departures on the cumulative period from January to October 2015, and highlights the enthusiasm of travelers and travel distributors for French island of Reunion Island.

In second place, just after the French West Indies, Reunion Island is experiencing a positive trend in bookings with increased passenger numbers by 13% and increased its sales volume by 4%.

REUNION ISLAND – UNIQUE ULTRAMARINE GREEN DESTINATION

While all French destinations experiencing a negative trend in terms of cumulative departures from January 2015, Reunion Island is the only overseas destination that identifies with positive cumulative departures.

With a 6% increase in passenger numbers and an increase of 1% of its business volume, Reunion Island holds its own against the other French destinations that show a decline of more than 10% of their tendency departures.
