POWER-CAN Middle East honored by Prime Minister's Patronage
Being hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain from 17th to 19th February 2009, POWER-GEN Middle East has established itself as the leading event for power and water industry professionals and government officials, as a meeting place for the gathering of information and sharing of ideas in these important industries.
Bahrain has become one of the most advanced economies in the GCC and most progressive political systems. The country is the gateway to an energy hungry region that is also experiencing massive growth, seeing an average increase in demand for power at around 8 per cent. It is estimated $120 billion will be invested in Middle East power and water projects over the next 10 years, with an estimated 8 per cent of all Arab investments going into the power business.
Keeping Pace with the Middle East’s Economic Expansion
This years’ theme, ‘Keeping Pace with the Middle East’s Economic Expansion’, perfectly encapsulates an event that aims to discuss how the Middle East can plan and meet the power and water demands of the future, in a region that is experiencing growth at an extraordinary rate..
With over 120 anticipated exhibitors and over 3000 expected visitors from over 50 countries, POWER-GEN Middle East will be the most important annual meeting place for international power and water executives for the MENA region.
Mr. Adnan Fakhro, Vice President of Distribution and Customer Services, Electricity and Water Authority of Bahrain, said, “We are delighted to see the return of POWER-GEN Middle East to Bahrain and are, once again, pleased to be offering the support of the Electricity and Water Authority of Bahrain to such an important event. Demand in electricity has doubled . it has jumped from 6% to reach 12% the past few years and it is anticipated to stay this high over the coming years, offering many excellent business opportunities. This growth is emulated around the Gulf region and POWER-GEN Middle East provides a platform for the region’s industry to discuss our common goals and potential problems and how we can overcome these to meet the expectations and demands of commercial and residential customers.”
Glenn Ensor, Event Director, said, “We are delighted to receive the Patronage from H.H. Shaikh Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the support of the Electricity and Water Authority of Bahrain, demonstrating both the importance of POWER-GEN Middle East as an event in the region, but also how serious the authorities in Bahrain view the need to keep pace with the demands for power and water in the region.”
“We look forward to another successful POWER-GEN Middle East in Bahrain in February 2009 and this support will go a long way to ensuring this event remains the leading industry event in the Middle East,” continued Ensor.
